The SAS Software Depot is a network copy of your SAS media in a centralized location. The SAS Download Manager needs you to identify the location that you wish to use for the SAS Software Depot.
Enter a location for your depot in the text box, ensuring that the location you enter can be reached by the machine you are installing from. You can also search for a location by using the Browse button.
Note that the location must be a directory, rather than just a drive. For example, if you use c:\, you will receive an error message and have to enter another location. If you use c:\SSD, the SAS Download Manager will be able to proceed.
Note: The optimization selection is only available for SAS 9.4 software. If you are downloading software from an earlier release of SAS, this option will not appear on the page.
After the SAS Download Manager has downloaded an order to your machine, it can perform a check of the resulting SAS Software Depot to find and remove duplicate files. Depending on the software that is downloaded, this could have very little effect on the size of the depot or it could save you as much as 40% of the space needed if you did not perform the check. If a depot contains a single order, there will be little effect.
It's important to note that the optimization is being performed on the entire depot after the latest download has been added to it. Therefore all software in the depot, not just the software being downloaded, will be optimized. Depots that have been optimized can be added to later, and the optimization tool can be run on depots to which orders have been added. Optimization can also be performed on depots that have been optimized in the past.
Note: The SAS Deployment Wizard cannot create media from a SAS Software Depot that has been optimized. However, depots that have been optimized can be copied with the SAS Software Copy Utility.
Select Remove duplicate files and save space if you want to use this tool to evaluate and optimize your depot.
After you make your selections for the SAS Software Depot, click Next to continue.
