INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX E9ST02 ON OPENVMS ALPHA


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix E9ST02 addresses the issue(s) in SAS 9.1.3 (9.1 TS1M3) 
of SAS/STAT software on OpenVMS Alpha as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-013179 Incorrect standard errors may occur when using the
                OFFSET option with the COVS option   
      SN-017530 Incorrect sandwich estimate standard errors occur in
                PROC PHREG with the counting process (start, stop) syntax when using the COVS, OFFSET and MULTIPASS options 
      SN-017587 Near-singular covariance matrix may cause missing sandwich
                estimate standard error in PROC PHREG with the COVSANDWICH|COVS option

The hot fix package downloaded is in zip format.  The name of the zip
file is e9st02av.zip, and it contains the following files:

-> hotfixinst.com
   script to check Service Pack and install inner package (e9st02.zip)

-> e9st02.dat
   data file that includes the name of the current hot fix
      
-> e9st02.zip
   inner package that contains the following files:

      * sasphreg.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * e9st02av.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * e9st02av.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX] 


IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have SAS 9.1.3 (9.1 TS1M3) and SAS 9.1.3 Service Pack 4
    installed on your system before applying this hot fix.

2.  Define SAS 9.1 System logicals to your process by executing 
    the following command file:

           $ @disk:[SAS91.TOOLS]SAS91.COM

    where disk is the device where SAS 9.1.3 (9.1 TS1M3) is installed.

3.  If you do not have the UNZIP utility installed on your system, please 
    download this program from the "SAS System under OpenVMS" link
    on this page:

           http://www.sas.com/service/techsup/ftp/download.html

    The name of the utility is UNZIPAV.EXE.  Copy this file to the directory 
    SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT].  Create this directory if it is not present.

    Once installed, create a symbol pointing to the UNZIP utility:

           $ UNZIP :== "$SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT]UNZIPAV.EXE"


AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files 
listed above.
  
STEP 1:
Create a directory named HOTFIX under SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT]

     $  CREATE/DIR SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]


STEP 2:
Copy the file downloaded, E9ST02AV.ZIP, to the HOTFIX directory created in STEP 1.

Assuming the file was downloaded to a user's directory called disk1:[dir],
execute

     $  COPY disk1:[dir]E9ST02AV.ZIP SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]


STEP 3:
Change your default directory to the SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]directory.

     $ SET DEFAULT SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]


STEP 4:
Extract the contents from the downloaded zip file.

     $  UNZIP -o "-X" "SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]E9ST02AV.ZIP"

The "-X" parameter must be in uppercase for this command to work properly.


STEP 5:
Submit the hotfix install script to check for Service Pack install.

     $ @HOTFIXINST.COM


This completes the installation of hot fix E9ST02 on OpenVMS Alpha.
