INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82TE08 ON AIX


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 82TE08 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) 
of SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata software on AIX as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-005626 FASTLOADING using SAS/ACCESS Interface to TERADATA
                may cause SAS to crash in different ways   
      SN-008268 Setting the value for Teradata response buffer length
                outside of SAS     
      SN-009378 Implicit SQL Pass Through query returns incorrect results
                from Teradata DBMS   
      SN-010021 SAS/Access to Teradata V8.2 does not work with TUF
                Version 7.0 and V2R5.0   
      SN-011547 Locking modifiers are not handled correctly when DBKEY=
                is used     
      SN-011549 Out of memory error may occur if DBKEY= is used to
                query a Teradata table   
      SN-011713 SAS allows only CONNECTION=UNIQUE when READ_ISOLATION_LEVEL=ACCESS
                is used in a LIBNAME statement in SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata   
      SN-011822 Incorrect WHERE passed to Teradata when OR condition

The hot fix package that is downloaded is in compressed tar format.  The name 
of the tar file is 82te08ar.tar.Z.
      


IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  You must be running AIX 5.1 or greater before applying this hot
    fix.


AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files listed 
above.  In this example, !SASROOT, the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is 
installed, is:

      /usr/lib/sas8


STEP 1:
Create the necessary sub-directories in !SASROOT if they do not already exist.

      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8

If the misc/dbi directory does not exist, it should be created.

      $> mkdir misc misc/dbi

If the hotfix directory does not exist, it should be created.

      $> mkdir hotfix hotfix/sasexe


STEP 2:
Change to the !SASROOT/misc/dbi directory.

      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8/misc/dbi


STEP 3:
Extract the contents of the downloaded tar file.  Assuming the tar file is 
downloaded to the user's HOME directory, execute the following commands:

      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8/misc/dbi
      $> uncompress -c $HOME/82te08ar.tar  |  tar -xf -

After the files has been extracted, the following makefile and directory
structure with files for linking will be created: 

      !SASROOT/misc/dbi/sastra.mak 
      !SASROOT/misc/dbi/sastra_obj/


STEP 4:  
Build the new version of SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sastra.

      $> pwd
         /usr/lib/sas8/misc/dbi

      $> make -f sastra.mak

This will rename !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sastra by appending the current
date to the file name and build a new version of !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sastra.
Also,  !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sasiotra will be replaced.
Any intermediate files created are cleaned-up.


STEP 5:
Once the tar command is complete, the following line must be added as the 
first line of the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file:

      -path !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe

Do not modify any existing -PATH options in the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file.


STEP 6:
Change the ownership (using the chown command) and permissions (using
the chmod command) on the files in the !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe directory
to match the ownership and permissions on the files in the
!SASROOT/sasexe directory.


STEP 7:
To backout, replace !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sastra with the most recent backup
generated in STEP 3.  !Replace SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sasiotra
with the most recent backup also.




This completes the installation of hot fix 82TE08 on AIX.
