The name of the tar file is 82sb12h8.tar.Z, and it contains the following files: * sasdblpe.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasdblpe a link to sasdblpe.82sb12 * sasdblde.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasdblde a link to sasdblde.82sb12 * sasiosyb.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasiosyb a link to sasiosyb.82sb12 * syh8x125.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * syh8x125 a link to syh8x125.82sb12 * sassybdb.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sassybdb a link to sassybdb.82sb12 * dbisyb.msg.82sb12 the replacement message file containing the hot fix * dbisyb.msg a link to dbisyb.msg.82sb12 * sassybac.82sb12 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sassybac a link to sassybac.82sb12 * 82sb12h8.aud a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support to determine which fixes have been applied to a system * 82sb12h8.txt a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed in !SASROOT/hotfix/doc IMPORTANT NOTE(S): 1. You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before applying this hot fix. 2. You must be running a minimum of HP-UX 11.0 and a minimum of Sybase OpenClient 12.5 before installing this hot fix. Installing this hot fix on top of earlier releases will not work and will disable the functionality of your SAS/ACCESS Interface to SYBASE software. AFTER DOWNLOADING: The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files listed above. In this example, !SASROOT, the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is installed, is: /usr/lib/sas8 STEP 1: Assuming the tar file is downloaded to the user's HOME directory, follow these procedures to install the package. $> cd /usr/lib/sas8 $> uncompress -c $HOME/82sb12h8.tar | tar -xf - STEP 2: Once the tar command is complete, it is necessary to edit the config file, !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg. 1. The following line must be added as the first line of the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file: -path !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe Do not modify any existing -PATH options in the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file. 2. Locate the -msg option in the config file. After the existing -msg option add add the following line: -insert msg !SASROOT/hotfix/sasmsg The updated -MSG options should appear as follows: -msg !SASROOT/sasmsg -insert msg !SASROOT/hotfix/sasmsg Please be extremely careful not to modify the path in the default -MSG configuration option. STEP 3: A link to the correct version of sassyb must be created. Assuming !SASROOT is /usr/lib/sas8, execute the following commands: for Open Client 12.5 (for HP-UX 11.0 systems only): > cd /usr/lib/sas8/hotfix/sasexe > mv sassyb sassyb.bak > ln -s syh8x125 sassyb STEP 4: Change the ownership (using the chown command) and permissions (using the chmod command) on the files in the !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe directory to match the ownership and permissions on the files in the !SASROOT/sasexe directory. This completes the installation of hot fix 82SB12 on HP-UX.
