The name of the tar file is 82sb11ar.tar.Z, and it contains the following files: * sasdblpe.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasdblpe a link to sasdblpe.82sb11 * sasdblde.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasdblde a link to sasdblde.82sb11 * sasiosyb.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sasiosyb a link to sasiosyb.82sb11 * sassybdb.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sassybdb a link to sassybdb.82sb11 * syr6x125.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * syr6x125 a link to syr6x125.82sb11 * sassybac.82sb11 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * sassybac a link to sassybac.82sb11 IMPORTANT NOTE(S): 1. You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before applying this hot fix. AFTER DOWNLOADING: The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files to allow SAS 8.2 to work with Sybase Open Client 12.5.x on AIX 5.x You MUST have the SYBASE environment variable set as following: export SYBASE=/usr/local/sybase/1251 If this environment is not established the .mak file commands below will fail to provided the necessary updates. Note: SASROOT in the instructions below refers to the path of the SAS root directory. If you know the location of SASROOT, please contact your SAS representative. (a) Change to the directory SASROOT/misc/dbi/: cd SASROOT/misc/dbi/ (b) Restore the SASROOT/misc/dbi/82sb11ar.tar file: tar -xvf 82sb11ar.tar (c) After the files have been extracted, the following makefile and directory structure with files for linking will be created: SASROOT/misc/dbi/sassyb.mak SASROOT/misc/dbi/sassyb_obj/ (d) Be sure that the permissions on the sassyb.mak file in the SASROOT/misc/dbi directory is 755: chmod 755 sassyb.mak (e) You will need to check to see if the following files exists in the SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe directory: syr6x111 sassyb sasiosyb sassybac sassybdb sasdblpe sasdblde If they do not exists in that directory then you will need to copy them to that directory as follows, otherwise continue with the next step: cd SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe cp SASROOT/sasexe/syr6x111 sassyb cp SASROOT/sasexe/sasiosyb . cp SASROOT/sasexe/sassybac . cp SASROOT/sasexe/sassybdb . cp SASROOT/sasexe/sasdblpe . cp SASROOT/sasexe/sasdblde . (f) Change to the directory SASROOT/misc/dbi/: cd SASROOT/misc/dbi/ (g) Build the new version of SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sassyb: make -f sassyb.mak This will rename SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sassyb by appending the current date to the file name and build a new version of SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sassyb. Also, SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/ sasiosyb will be replaced. sassybac will be replaced. sassybdb will be replaced. sasdblpe will be replaced. sasdblde will be replaced. Any intermediate files created are cleaned-up. (h) To backout, replace SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sassyb with the most recent backup generated in step (d). Replace SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe/sasiosyb with the most recent backup also.
