INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82MQ01 ON HP-UX


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 82MQ01 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) 
of SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server software on HP-UX as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-009609 SAS Access to Microsoft SQL Server fails when running
                on HPUX11 using the sabhhpt binary   

which may be reviewed at:

The hot fix package that is downloaded is in compressed tar format.  The name 
of the tar file is 82mq01h8.tar.Z, and it contains the following files:

      * sassqsrv.82mq01
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sassqsrv
             a link to sassqsrv.82mq01

      * sqlbrand410hp.tar
             a new tar file containing the DataDirect SQLServer 4.10 driver

      * 82mq01h8.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 82mq01h8.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in !SASROOT/hotfix/doc 



IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  This hot fix should be applied to HP-UX 11.x systems only.



AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files listed 
above.  In this example, !SASROOT, the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is 
installed, is:

      /usr/lib/sas8


STEP 1:
Assuming the tar file is downloaded to the user's HOME directory, follow 
these procedures to install the package.

      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8
      $> uncompress -c $HOME/82mq01h8.tar  |  tar -xf -


STEP 2:
Once the tar command is complete, the following line must be added as the 
first line of the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file:

      -path !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe

Do not modify any existing -PATH options in the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file.


STEP 3:
Change the ownership (using the chown command) and permissions (using
the chmod command) on the files in the !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe directory 
to match the ownership and permissions on the files in the 
!SASROOT/sasexe directory.


STEP 4:
The contents of sqlbrand410hp.tar must be extracted into the sqlserver
library where the drivers reside.  

The sqlserver library may be installed anywhere, but it is recommended
that they be installed under !SASROOT in a sqlsrv directory.  

This example will assume that the drivers are extracted into the 
!SASROOT/sqlsrv directory, where !SASROOT is /usr/lib/sas8.

      $> mkdir /usr/lib/sas8/sqlsvr
      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8/sqlsvr
      $> tar -xvf /usr/lib/sas8/misc/dbi/sqlbrand410hp.tar 


STEP 5:
Edit the /usr/lib/sas8/sqlsvr/odbc.ini file with the specifics for your SQLServer 
database.



This completes the installation of hot fix 82MQ01 on HP-UX.
