INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82IF04 ON HP-UX


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 82IF04 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) 
of SAS/ACCESS Interface to INFORMIX software on HP-UX as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-005027 Unable to query an INFORMIX table containing a DATETIME
                precision datatype   
      SN-005894 "ERROR: Informix EXECUTE Error: Already in transaction"
                is issued in SAS 8.2   
      SN-007957 TEXT fields are truncated when using SAS/ACCESS Interface
                to Informix with PROC SQL Passthrough   
      SN-002782 Using the dbkey= option results in 0 rows being selected
                from a Informix table   
      SN-007212 INFORMIX table names cannot be longer than 18 characters
                when using the LIBNAME Access method

The hot fix package that is downloaded is in compressed tar format.  The name 
of the tar file is 82if04h8.tar.Z, and it contains the following files:

      * sasionfx.82if04
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sasionfx
             a link to sasionfx.82if04

      * sasnfx.82if04
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sasnfx
             a link to sasnfx.82if04

      * 82if04h8.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 82if04h8.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in !SASROOT/hotfix/doc 



IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.



AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files listed 
above.  In this example, !SASROOT, the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is 
installed, is:

      /usr/lib/sas8


STEP 1:
Assuming the tar file is downloaded to the user's HOME directory, follow 
these procedures to install the package.

      $> cd /usr/lib/sas8
      $> uncompress -c $HOME/82if04h8.tar  |  tar -xf -


STEP 2:
Once the tar command is complete, the following line must be added as the 
first line of the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file:

      -path !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe

Do not modify any existing -PATH options in the !SASROOT/sasv8.cfg file.


STEP 3:
Change the ownership (using the chown command) and permissions (using
the chmod command) on the files in the !SASROOT/hotfix/sasexe directory 
to match the ownership and permissions on the files in the 
!SASROOT/sasexe directory.



This completes the installation of hot fix 82IF04 on HP-UX.
