INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82BB58 ON SOLARIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING: The hot fix 82BB58 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) of Base SAS software on Solaris as documented in SAS Note(s): SN-007277 SAS/Integration Technologies Object Spawner does not honor expired passwords when using SASAUTH authentication SN-010238 SAS Clients fail to authenticate when using blank or empty password which may be reviewed at: http://support.sas.com/techsup/unotes/SN/007/007277.html http://support.sas.com/techsup/unotes/SN/010/010238.html The hot fix package that is downloaded is in compressed tar format. The name of the tar file is 82bb58s2.tar.Z, and it contains the following files: * sasauth.82bb58 the replacement executable containing the hot fix * 82bb58s2.aud a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support to determine which fixes have been applied to a system * 82bb58s2.txt a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed in !SASROOT/hotfix/doc IMPORTANT NOTE(S): 1. You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before applying this hot fix. AFTER DOWNLOADING: The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files listed above. In this example, !SASROOT, the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is installed, is: /usr/lib/sas8 STEP 1: Assuming the tar file is downloaded to the user's HOME directory, follow these procedures to install the package. $> cd /usr/lib/sas8 $> uncompress -c $HOME/82bb58s2.tar | tar -xf - STEP 2: The tar command will extract the file sasauth.82bb58 into the !SASROOT/utilities/bin directory. To replace the current sasauth executable follow these steps (assuming you are still in the /usr/lib/sas8 directory). $> cd utilities/bin $> chown myuserid sasauth [where myuserid is a non-root userid] $> chmod 755 sasauth $> mv sasauth sasauth.TS2M0 $> mv sasauth.82bb58 sasauth If the file sasauth.TS2M0 already exists, skip the first mv command. STEP 3: Last, in order to authenticate a client’s identity and check the client’s authority to access resources, some setup is required by the root account. This setup changes the setuid permissions of file in !SASROOT/utilities/bin to root. This can be accomplished by executing the following commands: $> su root $> cd !SASROOT/utilities/bin $> chown root sasauth $> chmod 4755 sasauth $> exit This completes the installation of hot fix 82BB58 on Solaris.
