INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82BB57 ON OS/2


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 82BB57 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) 
of Base SAS software on OS/2 as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-004660 Library used by DATA step view executing on SAS/SHARE
                Server remains locked   
      SN-005758 Assignment statements using Boolean logic may produce
                incorrect results     
      SN-004681 UNEXPECTED ERROR occurs when running a selection rule
                that references a dynamic SAS modeling score   
      SN-007025 Memory overlay possible with $CHARw., $ASCIIw., and
      SN-004659 DATA step view containing Boolean comparisons can return
                incorrect results   
      SN-009334 Error occurred in the code generation subsystem during
                program load     
      SN-010252 Segmentation violation using the FILEVAR= option with
                the FTP engine on a FILE statement

The hot fix package downloaded is a self extracting executable named 
82bb57o2.exe which will install the following files:


      * sasdsvx.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasdsx.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasdsr.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasdsco.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasdsc.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasdsa .dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * 82bb57o2.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 82bb57o2.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in !SASROOT\core\sasinst\hotfix 


IMPORTANT NOTES:

1.  You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  82bb57o2.exe must be run from an OS2 command-line and must be launched 
    from !SASROOT (the directory where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) is installed).   



AFTER DOWNLOADING:

In this example, it is assumed that !SASROOT is: 
c:\sas


STEP 1
Change to the !SASROOT directory,
  
        [c:\] cd c:\sas


STEP 2
Move the downloaded executable to the !SASROOT directory.  Assuming 82bb57o2.exe 
is downloaded to c:\myfiles, 

        [c:\sas] move c:\myfiles\82bb57o2.exe \sas\82bb57o2.exe


STEP 3
Back-up the original file(s),

        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsvx.dll sasdsvx.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsx.dll sasdsx.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsr.dll sasdsr.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsco.dll sasdsco.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsc.dll sasdsc.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasdsa .dll sasdsa .000


STEP 4
Assuming you are still in c:\sas, launch the executable.
The "/directories" option is required to maintain the proper
directory structure during file extraction,

        [c:\sas] 82bb57o2.exe /directories



This completes the installation of hot fix 82BB57 on OS/2.
