INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 82BB46 ON OPENVMS VAX


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 82BB46 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.2 (TS2M0) 
of Base SAS software on OpenVMS VAX as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-005210 LINE statement may display incorrect data with COMPUTE
                BEFORE and the FLOW option   
      SN-005223 BREAK statement and GROUP under an ACROSS may cause
                an error     
      SN-005211 GROUP values under ACROSS may be missing if BREAK/COMPUTE
                AFTER variable is requested   
      SN-005767 Nested ACROSS variables may result in system specific
                errors     
      SN-005770 Row variable values may be printed under wrong variable
                column     
      SN-005766 Rows of data may be missing from output with multiple
                ACROSS variables in PROC REPORT   
      SN-007784 PROC REPORT quantile values may be incorrect     
      SN-007785 ACROSS values may be missing in the REPORT WINDOW of
                PROC REPORT     
      SN-007786 BY statement in PROC REPORT may cause memory problems     
      SN-007888 All but the first column under an ACROSS variable may
                contain missing values   
      SN-005776 CALL DEFINE specified in COMPUTE block may produce

The hot fix package downloaded is in zip format.  The name of the zip
file is 82bb46vm.zip, and it contains the following files:

      * sasrepmn.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sasrepwd.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * saszrepo.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sastrepo.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * uwudefin.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sasrep7.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * sasrepor.exe
             the replacement executable containing the hot fix

      * 82bb46vm.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 82bb46vm.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX] 


IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  Define Release 8.2 SAS System logicals to your process by executing 
    the following command file:

           $ @disk:[SAS82.TOOLS]SAS82.COM

    where disk is the device where Release 8.2 (TS2M0) of the SAS System 
    is installed.

3.  If you do not have the UNZIP utility installed on your system, please 
    download this program from the "SAS System under OpenVMS" link
    on this page:

           http://www.sas.com/service/techsup/ftp/download.html

    The name of the utility is UNZIPVM.EXE.  Copy this file
    to the directory SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT].  Create 
    this directory if it is not present.

    Once installed, create a symbol pointing to the UNZIP utility:

           $ UNZIP :== "$SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT]UNZIPVM.EXE"


AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The following instructions describe the steps for installing the files 
listed above.
  
STEP 1:
Create a directory named HOTFIX under SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT]

     $  CREATE/DIR SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]


STEP 2:
Copy the file downloaded, 82BB46VM.ZIP, to the HOTFIX directory created in STEP 1.

Assuming the file was downloaded to a user's directory called disk1:[dir],
execute

     $  COPY disk1:[dir]82BB46VM.ZIP SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]


STEP 3:
Change your default directory to the SAS$ROOT directory.

     $ SET DEFAULT SAS$ROOT:[000000]


STEP 4:
Extract the contents from the downloaded zip file.

     $  UNZIP -o "-X" "SAS$ROOT:[TOOLS.SUPPORT.HOTFIX]82BB46VM.ZIP"

The "-X" parameter must be in uppercase for this command to work properly.



This completes the installation of hot fix 82BB46 on OpenVMS VAX.
