You must have Release 8.2 (TS2M0) installed on your system before applying this hot fix. 2. Make a backup of your SASHELP SAS data library, since it will be updated in STEP 2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: STEP 1: Once the file 82bb09os.xmit has been downloaded to your PC, the file must be moved via FTP from your PC to your OS/390 system. 1. Allocate a data set on OS/390 with the following DCB characteristics. This is the location where the file 82bb09os.xmit MUST be FTP'ed. In this example the data set will be called "sas.hotfix.xmit". Organization . . . . . : PS Record format . . . . . : FB Record length . . . . . : 80 Block size . . . . . . : 3120 2. Open an MS-DOS (or NT Command Prompt) window and change to the directory where 82bb09os.xmit was downloaded. For example: C:\> cd \os390\82bb09os 3. FTP to your OS/390 system using the appropriate userid and password. C:\os390\82bb09os> ftp 4. Issue the following commands: ftp> binary ftp> put 82bb09os.xmit 'sas.hotfix.xmit' (rep <== VERIFY 'sas.hotfix.xmit' DSN ftp> quit Other methods for moving files between your PC systems and OS/390 systems that are available at your site may be used to transfer these files. However, the file 82bb09os.xmit MUST be transferred using the BINARY protocol. STEP 2: NOTE: Before proceeding with this step, insure no Version 8.2 SAS jobs are running because this step requires exclusive access to the SASHELP library. NOTE: Make a backup of your SASHELP SAS data library, since it will be updated in this step. The contents of the XMIT file must be extracted. 1. Once the XMIT file is on MVS, you will unload it with the RECEIVE command as follows : RECEIVE INDATASET('sas.hotfix.xmit') where 'sas.hotfix.xmit' is the MVS dataset allocated in the previous step. 2. After doing this, you will be receive a prompt similar to the following: INMR901I Dataset DATA.SET.NAME from USERID on ???????? INMR906A Enter restore parameters or 'DELETE' or 'END' + You should enter DA(mvs.program.dataset) where mvs.program.dataset is a Partitioned Data Set (PDS) that will be created for you containing the SAS program necessary to correct this issue. 3. Start your localized German SAS Release 8.2 session, and from the program editor submit the SAS program PATCHW3. Note that you need to modify your CLIST in order to have WRITE access (DISP=OLD) to SASHELP, since it is required for the program to perform the necessary updates. 4. Exit the SAS System. This completes the installation of hot fix 82BB09 on OS/390. ----- ADDITIONAL OPTION FOR ACCESSING HOT FIX 82BB09 ----- If Web download and PC access are not available at your site, but FTP to external sites is available, you may use the following process to access this hot fix. These instructions explain accessing this hot fix through anonymous FTP. STEP 1: Allocate a data set on OS/390 with the following DCB characteristics. This is the location where the file 82bb09os.xmit MUST be FTP'ed. In this example the data set will be called "sas.hotfix.xmit". Organization . . . . . : PS Record format . . . . . : FB Record length . . . . . : 80 Block size . . . . . . : 3120 STEP 2: FTP to ftp.sas.com using: userid=anonymous and password=your.email@address STEP 3: Issue the following command: cd /techsup/download/hotfix/v82/base/82bb09/mvs STEP 4: If you are executing FTP directly from OS/390 you can issue the following commands, otherwise go to STEP 5: binary get 82bb09os.xmit 'sas.hotfix.xmit' (rep This will FTP the file 82bb09os.xmit to "sas.hotfix.xmit" which you allocated in Step 1 above. Now skip to Step 6. STEP 5: If you are executing FTP from another host, you can issue the following commands: binary get 82bb09os.xmit "a_local_path_name" You will then need to take steps to FTP the file 82bb09os.xmit to "sas.hotfix.xmit" which you created in STEP 1 above. STEP 6: NOTE: Before proceeding with this step, insure no Version 8.2 SAS jobs are running because this step requires exclusive access to the SASHELP library. NOTE: Make a backup of your SASHELP SAS data library, since it will be updated in this step. The contents of the XMIT file must be extracted. 1. Once the XMIT file is on MVS, you can unload it with the RECEIVE command as follows : RECEIVE INDATASET('sas.hotfix.xmit') where 'sas.hotfix.xmit' is the MVS dataset allocated in the previous step. 2.
