INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 81BA48 ON WINDOWS


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 81BA48 addresses the issue(s) in Release 8.1 (TS1M0) 
of Base SAS software on Windows as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-003597 Incorrect number of variables returned on output data
                set when audited files are used with a DROP/KEEP statement
                to create a data set.   
      SN-003430 Formatting a numeric variable with a length of less
                than 8 can produce incorrect results   
      SN-001011 Macro invocations containing concatenated macro variables
                do not resolve properly   
      SN-003632 When reading a binary file as text, the SAS System
                stops reading the input file after encountering a Ctrl + Z
                character   
      SN-004509 SAS/SHARE secured server fails to honor host security
                file access

IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have Release 8.1 (TS1M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  If 81BA48 is being applied to a Release 8.1 (TS1M0) image located 
    on a SERVER, then the updated "sashost.dll", which is supplied in 
    81BA48, must also be applied to any CLIENT machines which access 
    the Release 8.1 (TS1M0) server image.
    The updated "sashost.dll" can be copied from the SERVER to the 
    !SASROOT directory (the directory where Release 8.1 TS1M0 is installed)
    on each CLIENT.

3.  The correct installation of the updated "sashost.dll" can be verified on 
    Windows NT SERVER and CLIENT machines by viewing the "Properties" of 
    "sashost.dll" and confirming that the "File version" is 8.00.963444400. 
    The updated sashost.dll "File version" for Windows 2000 SERVER and CLIENT 
    machines is 8.0.14700.65200.


AFTER DOWNLOADING:

The hot fix package downloaded is a self extracting executable named 
81ba48wn.exe.  Launching the executable will initiate the install wizard, 
which will guide you through the setup process.  The following files will
be installed:

      * sasyopn.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasxmc2.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sashost.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasvcomm.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasvnpip.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasvupip.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * 81ba48wn.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 81ba48wn.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in !SASROOT\core\sasinst\hotfix 



This completes the installation of hot fix 81BA48 on Windows.
