INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 81BA23 ON OS/2


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:


The hot fix 81BA23 addresses the PROC REPORT issue(s) in Release 8.1 (TS1M0) 
of Base SAS software on OS/2 as documented in SAS Note(s):  

      SN-003246  Using the FLOW option on GROUP variables in conjunction
                 with an ACROSS variable produces undesirable results   
      SN-003261  GROUP variable with FLOW option and DISPLAY variable
                 under ACROSS variable causes error
      SN-003472  DISPLAY values under an ACROSS variable may incorrectly
                 give missing values when GROUP and BREAK or COMPUTE are specified
      SN-003587  PROC REPORT abnormally terminates with GROUP and ACROSS
                 variables which have both a BREAK BEFORE and a BREAK AFTER
      SN-003605  BREAK statement and an ACROSS variable with a DISPLAY
                 and ANALYSIS variables underneath may cause error
      SN-003599  COMPUTED variable under multiple ACROSS variables may
                 cause an error
      SN-003798  DISPLAY variable under an ACROSS variable and an ANALYSIS
                 variable under an ACROSS variable may cause error
      SN-004119  PROC REPORT with ACROSS may result in error regarding 
                 PAGESIZE 
      SN-004170  GROUP variables can now be specified under ACROSS variables

The hot fix package downloaded is a self extracting executable named 
81ba23o2.exe which will install the following files:


      * sasrepmn.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix

      * sasrepwd.dll
             the replacement module containing the hot fix 

      * 81ba23o2.aud
             a hot fix identifier file that will allow Technical Support
             to determine which fixes have been applied to a system

      * 81ba23o2.txt
             a copy of these installation instructions; this file is installed
             in !SASROOT\core\sasinst\hotfix 


IMPORTANT NOTES:

1.  You must have Release 8.1 (TS1M0) installed on your system before 
    applying this hot fix.

2.  81ba23o2.exe must be run from an OS2 command-line and must be launched 
    from !SASROOT (the directory where Release 8.1 (TS1M0) is installed).   



AFTER DOWNLOADING:

In this example, it is assumed that !SASROOT is: 
c:\sas


STEP 1
Change to the !SASROOT directory,
  
        [c:\] cd c:\sas


STEP 2
Move the downloaded executable to the !SASROOT directory.  Assuming 81ba23o2.exe 
is downloaded to c:\myfiles, 

        [c:\sas] move c:\myfiles\81ba23o2.exe \sas\81ba23o2.exe


STEP 3
Back-up the original file(s),

        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasrepmn.dll sasrepmn.000
        [c:\sas] ren c:\sas\core\sasexe\sasrepwd.dll sasrepwd.000


STEP 4
Assuming you are still in c:\sas, launch the executable.
The "/directories" option is required to maintain the proper
directory structure during file extraction,

        [c:\sas] 81ba23o2.exe /directories



This completes the installation of hot fix 81BA23 on OS/2.
