INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR the SAS 9.2 TS2M3 DBRMs DOWNLOAD ON z/OS AFTER INSTALLING ANY SAS/ACCESS to DB2 hot fixes SAS 9.2 TS2M3 DBRM members for SAS/ACCESS Interface to DB2 BEFORE DOWNLOADING: This download addresses the fact that the DBRMs members that are needed for the DB2 bind are not included as part of the install and must be downloaded separately. The following file(s) will be installed: * DBRM92_M3_V8_hf1.xmit PDS in XMIT format. It contains the DBRM members needed for the bind if you are accessing DB2 V8 and running SAS 9.2 TS2M3 and have installed any SAS/Access to DB2 hot fix. * DBRM92_M3_V9_hf1.xmit PDS in XMIT format. It contains the DBRM members needed for the bind if you are accessing DB2 V9 and running SAS 9.2 TS2M3 and have installed any SAS/Access to DB2 hot fix. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: The following instructions describe the steps for extracting the contents of the downloaded files, moving the files to your z/OS system and installing the appropriate DBRM members. STEP 1: PRE-ALLOCATE THE XMIT FILES ON z/OS (required) Pre-allocate 2 files on z/OS (e.g. 'sas.dbrm92.m3.V8.hf1.xmit' and 'sas.dbrm92.m3.v9.hf1.xmit) with the following DCBs. Organization : PS Record format : FB Record length : 80 Block size : 3120 STEP 2: FTP THE XMIT FILEs TO z/OS (required) FTP the appropriate XMIT files into the newly created files. DBRM92_M3_V8_hf1.xmit should be stored in 'sas.dbrm92.m3.v8.hf1.xmit' and DBRM92_M3_v9_hf1.xmit should be stored in 'sas.dbrm92.m3.v9.hf1.xmit. - Download the packaged hot fix to your PC. The packaged hot fix is a is a self extracting executable. Launching the executable will extract the z/OS files to a default location example: C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Local Settings\Temp You will be prompted during the extraction process to accept or overwrite the default unzip location. The remaining steps in these installation instructions assume that you have unzipped the files to the default location. After extracting the files, FTP the DBRM92_M3_V8_hf1.xmit and the DBRM92_M3_v9_hf1.xmit files to your z/OS system by doing a BINARY upload into the pre-allocated files created in step 1. STEP 3: RECEIVE THE XMIT FILEs TO CREATE THE DBRMLIB PDS (required) On z/OS issue a RECEIVE command against the uploaded XMIT files as follows where 'sas.dbrm92.m3.v8.hf1.xmit' and 'sas.dbrm92.m3.v9.hf1.xmit' are the preallocated file in step 1. receive indataset('sas.dbrm92.m3.vx.hf1.xmit') After doing this you will be prompted with something similar to the following: INMR901I Dataset DATA.SET.NAME from USERID on ???????? INMR906A Enter restore parameters or 'DELETE' or 'END' + at this prompt you should enter something similar to the following where sas.dbrm92.m3.vx.hf1.dbrmlib will the name of your newly created PDS containing the DBRM members: DA('sas.dbrm92.m3.vx.hf1.dbrmlib') This completes the download of the SAS 9.2 TS2M3 DBRM members on z/OS. There is one additional step that might need to be completed before the bind can be done. Step 4: Update and rename the SAS92 and SAS92X members (optional) If you will NEVER be running SAS 9.2 TS2M3 along with any of the following releases: SAS 9.2 TS1M0 SAS 9.2 TS2M0 SAS 9.2 TS2M2 then this step is not needed and you can proceed with the bind. If you are going to be running multiple 9.2 releases at the same time, you will need do some additional work before the DB2 bind can be done. The reason for this is by default all SAS 9.2 releases expect a default DB2 plan of SAS92. Since SAS 9.2 TS2M3 can not use the same plan as the previous versions and vice versa you must create a different plan so that the existing SAS92 plan is not overwritten. To keep the 9.2 releases from interferring with each other a new name must be chosen. One approach is leaving your existing SAS92 plan alone and do the renaming for the new install and choose a different plan name like SAS92M3. The other is create a different plan for the older SAS 9.2 release and keep the SAS92 plan for the newest release. Below are the steps that must be done. 1) choose a valid plan name, 2) make a copy of the current DBRM member and give it the chosen plan name, 3) edit the new member and change the first line from the default plan name to the chosen plan name, 4) BIND pointing to the new plan name and member, and 5) set the system option DB2PLAN= to the new plan. This can be done in a CONFIG file, at SAS invocation, or on an OPTIONS statement but is recommeded that it's done in a system or restricted option file so that your user's don't have to worry about forgetting to set it and possibly using the previous releases SAS92 plan. NOTE: The following information should be given to the appropriate person responsible for doing the DB2 bind: * The name of the DBRMLIB data sets containing the SAS92 and SAS92X (or the renamed) members that were created in the above step. * When performing the DB2 bind, point to the appropriate DBRM data set, rather than specifying the DBRM data set created during the SAS install.
