INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 34DATABLDR10 ON WINDOWS


BEFORE DOWNLOADING:

The hot fix package downloaded is a self extracting executable named 
34databldr10wn.exe.



IMPORTANT NOTE(S):

1.  You must have SAS Data Integration Studio 3.4 installed on your 
system before applying this hot fix.

2.  The hotfix must be installed using the same userid that performed 
the initial SAS Data Integration Studio 3.4 installation.

3.  You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER 
machine.

4.  All currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers 
must be terminated before applying this hot fix.

5. The hot fix installer will install a SAS Management Console plugin
 (sas.smc.updateprototypes.jar) if you have SMC installed on this machine in 
 C:\Program Files\SASManagementConsole\9.1\plugins.
 If SMC is installed in a different path, or if you do have a SMC installation
 on a different machine which is utilized by this SAS Data Integration Studio 3.4 
 installation, you will need to copy this file to the SMC plugins directory 
 that is appropriate for your configuration.



INSTALLING THIS HOT FIX:

These instructions assume that SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS 
Management Console have been installed in the default locations as follows:
    <!SASHOME>\SASETLStudio\9.1 and
   C:\Program Files\SASManagementConsole\9.1  
If you have installed these products in a different location, you will 
need to modify the paths in these instructions accordinly.


1.  Technical Support strongly suggests that you back up the files 
being replaced by this hot fix.  You should always try to include the 
current date in the name of the backup file created to distinguish 
between versions of backup files.  By doing this you will maintain a 
history of the file, which will be helpful when multiple iterations of 
a hot fix have been applied to the same file.  
For example,

    cp  sas.foo.jar  sas.foo.jar.07012006

where 07012006 is the date when the hot fix is applied.

The .<date> extension MUST be appended AFTER the .jar extension as it 
appears above.

and will guide you through the extraction of the updated components.

MANUAL POST-INSTALLATION STEPS:  

An updated version of the "Update SAS Data Integration Studio Metadata" 
plugin for SAS Management Console is included in the hotfix as follows:
    sas.smc.updateprototypes.jar
  
If you do not have SAS Management Console installed on this client, you must move 
this file to a machine where SAS Management Console is installed before proceeding
with the steps below:.  

NOTE:  The following steps must be performed once for each of your metadata 
       servers:

 1) Launch the SAS Management Console client that contains the updated 
sas.smc.updateprototypes.jar from the previous step.

 2) Log into the Foundation repository of your metadata server as the 
unrestricted user.

 3) Go to the Tools menu and select "Update Metadata for SAS Data Integration 
Studio".

 4) Complete the update process and exit SAS Management Console.

Note: This is a one time only update process (per metadata server), so this
step can be omitted after subsequent hot fix application processing on other
client machines. 


This completes the installation of hotfix 34DATABLDR10 on WINDOWS.
