INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOT FIX 13APCORE02 ON WINDOWS for IPF (64 bit) The hot fix 13APCORE02 addresses the issue(s) in SAS Analytics Platform 1.3 software on WINDOWS for IPF (64 bit) as documented in the "Issue(s) Addressed" section of the hot fix download page: http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/apcore13.html#13apcore02 The hot fix package downloaded is a self extracting executable named 13apcore02w6.exe. IMPORTANT NOTE(S): 1. You must have SAS Analytics Platform Release 1.3 installed on your system before applying this hot fix. 2. It is recommended that the hotfix be installed using the same userid who performed the SAS 9.1.3 installation. 3. You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER machine and all currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers must be terminated before applying this hot fix. 4. This hot fix should be applied to all of your client machine(s) AND to your Analytics Platform/mid-tier machine. To install this hotfix 1. Technical Support strongly suggests that you back up the files being replaced by this hot fix. You should always try to include the current date in the name of the backup file created to distinguish between versions of backup files. By doing this you will maintain a history of the file, which will be helpful when multiple iterations of a hot fix have been applied to the same file. For example, cp sas.foo.jar sas.foo.jar.07012006 where 07012006 is the date when the hot fix is applied. The . extension MUST be appended AFTER the .jar extension as it appears above to avoid unexpected results due to jar mismatching. The files that should be backed up for this hot fix are listed in Step #3 below. 2. Launch the executable, which will initiate a Java install wizard and will guide you through the extraction of the updated components. 3. To verify the installation of the hot fix confirm that the file(s) in the location(s) below have been updated to the level indicated by the date provided: \SASAPCore\lib\sas.apps.session.jar Date: 07/18/07 (EST) \SASAPCore\lib\sas.apps.session.server.jar Date: 07/18/07 (EST) \SASAPCore\lib\sas.svc.core.jar Date: 06/26/06 (EST) \SASAPCore\lib\sas.svc.publish.jar Date: 06/26/06 (EST) \SASAPCore\lib\sas.svc.storedprocess.jar Date: 06/26/06 (EST) 4. In addition to applying hotfix 13APCORE02 to the SAS Analytics Platform server, it is necessary to manually edit some control files. a) UNIX users need to edit the apserver shell script located in the path /SASAPCore/bin/apserver Add the following command line argument before the word $OPTIONS in the last line of the script. Make sure there is one blank space before and after this argument: -Dap.rmi.socket.factory=com.sas.apps.session.server.APSocketFactoryRMI b) Windows users need to edit two files. Edit the apstart.ini file, typically at path C:\Program Files\SAS\SASAPCore\bin\apstart.ini Add this argument to the CommandLineArgs line, just after the argument "-Xmx512m". Make sure there is one blank space before and after this argument: -Dap.rmi.socket.factory=com.sas.apps.session.server.APSocketFactoryRMI c) Windows users should also edit the wrapper.conf file, which is used to contain the arguments when the Analytics Platform server is installed as a Windows service. The typical path is C:\Program Files\SAS\SASAPCore\conf\wrapper.conf Locate the following line in the "Java Additional Parameters" section of the file: wrapper.java.additional.8=-Dsas.app.class.dirs=../lib;../ext Immediately after it, add this line: wrapper.java.additional.9=-Dap.rmi.socket.factory=com.sas.apps.session.server.APSocketFactoryRMI d) After saving the appropriate edits, stop and restart the AP server, and then ask clients to try access again. 5. Repeat the installation of this hot fix on all client machines as well as your Analytics Platform/mid-tier machine. This completes the installation of hotfix 13APCORE02.
