Installation Instructions for Hot Fix N5I002

Linux for x64


Hot fix N5I002 addresses the issue(s) in SAS High-Performance Server 2.2_M9 on Linux for x64 as documented in the Issue(s) Addressed section of the hot fix download page:

The hot fix downloaded, N5I002la.zip, contains the updated files required to address the documented issues.
Do NOT extract the contents of N5I002la.zip. The hot fix installation process will extract the contents as needed.


IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. You must have SAS High-Performance Server 2.2_M9 installed on your system before applying this hot fix. Refer to SAS KB0036131 for instructions on how to determine which product releases you have installed.

  2. Files delivered in this hot fix will be backed up during the installation process. However, it is good general practice to back up your system before applying updates to software.

  3. You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER machine.

  4. All currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers must be terminated before applying this hot fix.

  5. This hot fix should be installed using the same userid who performed the initial software installation.

  6. CONFIGURATION: No automatic configuration scripting is included for this hot fix. If you have previously configured software installed, the SAS Deployment Manager may present a screen where you will see "Apply SAS Hot Fixes" and "Configure SAS Hot Fixes" options. On this screen, you must ensure that the "Configure SAS Hot Fix" option is *not* selected. If this option is automatically selected, please de-select it prior to proceeding with the SAS Deployment Manager Screens. Failure to do so could have unintended consequences when applying this hot fix.


INSTALLATION

The N5I002 hot fix for SAS High-Performance Server 2.2_M9 will be installed using the SAS Deployment Manager. By default, the SAS Deployment Manager will search in the <SASHOME>/InstallMisc/HotFixes/New directory for hot fixes to be applied, but will also prompt for a location if you have downloaded hot fixes to a different directory.

After downloading N5I002la.zip, follow the instructions for applying hot fixes in the SAS Deployment Wizard and SAS Deployment Manager 9.4: User's Guide.

Please review the CONFIGURATION Important Note above concerning proper selection of the "Configure SAS Hot Fix" option in the SAS Deployment Manager.

If the attempt to apply this hot fix results in error messages similar to

Couldn't canonicalize: No such file or directory
Unable to canonicalize path "/install/cfgsas1/TKgridFromN5I002/TKGrid/bin"
The workaround is to update OpenSSH by doing the following:
#Get OpenSSH version before update.
ssh -V
yum info openssh

#Update OpenSSH.
yum update openssh

#Get OpenSSH version after update.
ssh -V
yum info openssh

from the 'root' account.

The hot fix installation should then succeed.


POST-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Applying this hot fix will install the files
<SASHome>/SASFoundation/9.4/misc/tkacl/TKGrid_Linux_x86_64.sh
<SASHome>/SASFoundation/9.4/misc/tkacl/TKGrid_REP_x86_64.sh
<SASHome>/SASFoundation/9.4/misc/tkacl/TKGrid_SEC_x86_64.sh
<SASHome>/SASFoundation/9.4/misc/tkacl/TKTGDat.sh
The Grid installers provided in this hot fix update how the HPA environment is replicated to the worker nodes; it is a change to the process that is used for the replication, not a change to the software content delivered by the Grid installer.

Since this is a change to the replication process, the following step is only required if you are updating or replacing to your environment.

replacing the files listed above in the SAS software depot with the ones installed by the hotfix.


Note: After replacing the files listed above in the SAS software depot with the ones delivered in the hotfix, if you re-download your order to the depot or create a new depot, the files delivered by the hot fix will be overwritten and will need to be re-copied to the depot.
