IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. Files delivered in this hot fix will be backed up during the installation process. However, it is good general practice to back up your system before applying updates to software.

  2. You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER machine.

  3. All currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers must be terminated before applying this hot fix.

  4. This hot fix should be installed using the same userid who performed the initial software installation.

  5. SASŪ IT Resource Management supplies an initial copy of a SAS data set that contains currently available LSPR information, as well as additional columns that enhance the reporting of resource utilization for various categories of SMF activity. The D49002 hot fix will update the default Large System Performance Reference (LSPR) table information located in SASHELP.ITMS_SMF_LSPRDATA. For more information about the LSPR table, updating its values, or backing up and restoring the default table after applying hot fix D49002, please refer to SAS Note 40936.

  6. When downloading SAS 9.2 hot fix packages, you must choose to Save the hot fix to disk, then execute the install from the saved location. Attempting to install a hot fix directly from the download page results in the error documented in SAS Note 37104.

OVERVIEW

To properly install this hot fix you will perform the following steps:
  1. Generate the SAS Deployment Registry Report.
  2. Determine your installation scenario.
  3. Apply Hot Fixes C44013, D50001, D51001, D52002, D53001 and D54002.
  4. Perform the appropriate post-installation tasks.

GENERATE THE SAS DEPLOYMENT REGISTRY REPORT

Before applying this hot fix, follow the instructions in SAS Note 35968 to generate a SAS Deployment Registry report, then verify that the appropriate product releases are installed on your system. The software components and release numbers should match the list of software components updated by the individual hot fix installers.

Re-deploy SAS IT Resource Management Jobs

Any SAS IT Resource Management Jobs that were created and deployed with the previous version of the software will need to be redeployed.

D50001 for SAS IT Resource Management Data Tier 3.2

  1. Update SAS Data Integration Studio Server Data

You will need to copy a portion of the SAS IT Resource Management Data Tier update to the SAS Data Integration Studio Server Data product directory to complete the installation of D50001 . Follow the steps below:

    1. Locate the plugins\itrmdatatier folder containing the file 'picklist' for your SAS IT Resource Management Data Tier installation. By default, this folder is located in:

      C:\Program Files\SAS\SASITResourceManagementDataTier\3.2\plugins\itrmdatatier
    2. Copy the "itrmdatatier" folder containing the file "picklist" to the following location:
      C:\Program Files\SAS\SASDataIntegrationStudioServerData\4.2\plugins

NOTE: The example above assumes the default installation path of C:\Program Files\SAS was used when originally installing SAS IT Resource Management Data Tier and SAS Data Integration Studio. If an alternate installation path was used, you should change the location accordingly when copying the itrmdatatier folder.

  2. Update SAS IT Resource Management Metadata

In order for this step to execute correctly, the Metadata Server must be running. Please start your Metadata Server now.

You should be logged into the machine hosting your SAS IT Resource Management Metadata Server using the same userid that was used for both your original and hot fix installations.
Open a Windows Command Prompt and change directory to the installation location of the SAS IT Resource Management Data Tier component. This should be

    <SASHOME>SASITResourceManagementDataTier\3.2

In this directory is a batch script that you will execute to update the SAS IT Resource Management metadata.

Prior to running this script you may need to define an environment variable specifying the location of a compatible java executable. Inspect the level_env.bat file located in the SAS Configuration Directory\Level directory to confirm whether a JDK_HOME environment variable is being defined. If you do not see a line specifying "SET JDK_HOME=" then you need to set the JDK_HOME variable from the command prompt prior to invoking the script specified below. The setting should be to an installed, compatible JDK, and should not include the "\bin" portion of the path.

The script to update the SAS IT Resource Management metadata is named applyHotFix.bat and it requires two positional parameters to be passed to it. The first is the password for the SAS administrative user id. The second is the SAS Configuration Directory path including the Level subdirectory. The syntax for invoking this script is:

    applyHotFix.bat <metaPass> <SASConfigDir>
    For example,
    applyHotFix.bat AdminAdmin1 C:\SAS\ITRM32\Lev1
Note: if your configuration directory path contains a space (embedded blank) you must enclose the entire path in double quotes ("path with blanks").

During the execution of this script you should see messages similar to the following output to your command prompt window:

Output from this script is redirected to the log file: itrmhotfix.log

Apache Ant version 1.7.0 compiled on December 13 2006
    Buildfile: C:\Program Files\SAS\SASITResourceManagementDataTier\3.2\Config\itrmhotfix.xml
and the output from this task will be written to the itrmhotfix.log file. This log file is located in the same directory that the script was invoked from.

After successful execution the final lines of this log file will be similar to:

    BUILD SUCCESSFUL
    Total time: 45 seconds
Note: If you do not see the BUILD SUCCESSFUL message you should contact SAS Technical Support.

D52002 for SAS IT Resource Management Mid-Tier 3.2

Step 1: Re-build Web Application

In order for this step to execute correctly, the Metadata Server must be running.

1.1 Invoke the SAS Deployment Manager 9.2

From the SASDeploymentManager directory launch config.exe.
SAS Deployment Manager is installed in the following default location:

<SASHOME>\SASDeploymentManager\9.2

1.2 Select a language in the Choose Language box

1.3 Select Rebuild Web Applications

1.4 Select Configuration Directory or Enter the Configuration Directory and Level that needs to be updated

1.5 Specify Connection Information, including the sasadm User ID and Password

1.6 Select ITRM Gallery Manager 3.2 as the Web Application to Rebuild

1.7 Verify the information on the Summary screen and select Start

1.8 Select Finish when the rebuild task is complete

This process will update the ITRM Gallery Manager 3.2 ear in <SASCONFIGDIR>\Lev1\Web\Staging. A backup of the original ear file will be placed in the directory below:

<SASCONFIGDIR>\Lev1\Web\Staging\Backup
where <SAS Configuration Directory> is the configuration directory for the mid-tier

Step 2: Re-deploy Web Application

2.1 Re-deploy the sas.itresourcemanagement3.2.ear web application using SASŪ 9.2 Intelligence Platform Web Application Administration Guide.
