    SN-005280 ***Alert Note***

    MATRIX statement syntax [ , ] (referred to as 'unspecified location')
    results in an incorrectly specified model

    Product: SAS/STAT
    Component: CALIS procedure
    Priority: ALERT

      The MATRIX statement in PROC CALIS allows you to specify the location
      of items in a matrix via [i,j] notation. It is valid to leave the i and
      j subscripts blank [ , ]. Thus, the following two MATRIX statements
      should produce the same results.

         1) MATRIX PHI [,] = 10*COV:;

      and

         2) MATRIX PHI = 10*COV:;

      However, with the syntax shown in #1 above, the model is not being
      correctly specified, so the output from the procedure is incorrect.
      There are no warnings or error messages produced.

      To circumvent the problem, use the syntax shown in #2 above.

    Keywords:
      proc calis matrix [,] unspecified location incorrout incorrstat
      matrix statement syntax [ , ] (referred to as 'unspecified location')
      results in an incorrectly specified model
