    SN-005135 ***Alert Note***

PROC MIXED Produces Incorrect Satterthwaite or KR Degrees of Freedom
with TYPE=FA0(2) on RANDOM Statement and a singular G matrix

    Product: SAS/STAT
    Component: MIXED procedure
    Priority: HIGH

PROC MIXED will produce incorrect Satterthwaite or KR degrees of freedom
when TYPE=FA0(2) is specified on the RANDOM statement and the G matrix
is singular. PROC MIXED will produce a message in the log indicating
that the G matrix is nonpositive definite in this case, but there is no
indication that the degrees of freedom for the model are incorrect.

There is no circumvention for this problem.

    Keywords:
mixed fa0(2) random satterthwaite kr ddfm= incorrout incorrstat
      incorrect df degrees freedom
proc mixed produces incorrect satterthwaite or kr degrees of freedom
with type=fa0(2) on random statement and a singular g matrix
