SN-003917 ***Alert Note***
Values for numeric columns of length less than 8 not saved correctly
from New mode of VIEWTABLE window
Product: SAS/AF
Component: General AF applications
Priority: ALERT
If you use the VIEWTABLE window to create a new data set (New mode in
Table View mode) and the data set contains numeric columns of length
less than 8, the values of those columns may not be saved correctly.
These values may instead be saved as 0 or very small numbers displayed
in E-notation.
To circumvent this problem, specify a length of 8 for numeric columns.
If you wish to create numeric columns with lengths less than 8, you can
create the data set via the FSEDIT or FSVIEW procedures or you can
create an empty data set (no rows) via the DATA step and then add data
to the data set via the VIEWTABLE window. Another alternative would be
to use the VIEWTABLE window in New mode to set the column attributes and
then save the data set before adding data to the data set. Once the
data set has been saved, close the VIEWTABLE window and then reopen the
VIEWTABLE window to add rows of data to the newly saved data set.
